Cockroaches like dirty places and they can find such around the home in drainage pipes, dustbins and other places around the home and the neighborhood. Cockroaches like being in the kitchen because they are likely to fin leftover food and other edibles lying on the tables and floor.
On contact with kitchen items, cockroaches spread the germs and any other disease carrying organism they might have come across. Remember, they use the same feet they step on your kitchen to step on dirt and garbage. This contamination can sometimes not be noticed for the purpose of cleaning because roaches move around in the night and it may be difficult to trace their steps. When many people wake up in the morning, they are fully occupied with the business of the day to even take time to give a fresh clean to the utensils they use for breakfast. The ingredients needed to make roach balls are available in the stores or pharmacies. They include white or brown wheat flour, boric acid, brown sugar, water and bacon grease. You need to get all these in place and find a place away from your usual living areas of kitchen and lounge to be able to prepare the roach balls safely. Mix 1/3 cup of boric acid with one cup of flour and add some minced onions. To this mixture, add a teaspoon of brown sugar and water. Stir to make dough like the one you would make for any other cookies.
Now you have your dough; spread your foil paper on a flat surface, slightly flatten your dough on one side of the foil paper. Don’t press is too much because your next step is to cut small pieces using the bottle cap. This will leave you with small tin cups of dough which is your cockroach exterminator. Roll the dough into small balls and put in your tin cups or on foil paper cuttings. Place the balls on in places where cockroaches normally hide and in the kitchen and wherever you normally see the roaches. The balls can last for up to six months.
These moth balls are attractive to cockroaches and can be used for up to six months after preparation. If any cockroach eats them, it dies after s a short time. The only caution is to ensure the balls don’t come into contact with food items or utensils.
